Did you know the word tassel comes from the Latin word “tassau,” which means clasp? Also, a single handmade tassel can cost up to a thousand dollars?! Historically, they’ve had many uses: worn by academics, and used in Egypt and Mesopotamia to protect children from malevolent spirits.
